Additional Information About Foundations
The Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation
The Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation was created in 1976 by the Soeurs de la Providence thanks to a major bequest from a generous donor. The Foundation's mission is to raise money to help fund the Hospital's priority projects, such as the purchase of sophisticated medial equipment, support for research and teaching, and improvements to the quality of care provided at the Hospital.
The Foundation is currently in the midst of a major fundraising drive that runs until 2009. The target is $35 million, to be used for a new coronary unit, a new child psychiatry building, refurbishing of the mother-child care unit, and other purposes.
The Hospital mainly serves the north-western part of the Montréal metropolitan areahome to nearly 75% of its in-patients.
The Sir Mortimer B. Davis - Jewish General Hospital Foundation (JGHF)
Founded in 1969, the Sir Mortimer B. Davis - Jewish General Hospital Foundation's (JGHF) mandate is to raise funds in support of the Sir Mortimer B. Davis - Jewish General Hospital (JGH), a 637-bed McGill University teaching hospital known for excellence in the health care services that it provides and the calibre of its medical and research staff, many of whom have been recognized for their achievements.
Monies raised by the Foundation are used to help support patient care, research and teaching ? the hallmarks of any great university teaching hospital.
The Foundation launched the ? Power to Heal? fundraising campaign to fund a variety of initiatives to bring the very best talent, equipment, facilities and programs to the JGH. The JGH and its Foundation are committed to providing all Quebecers with the ? Power to Heal? .
The Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation
Our mission is to raise funds to support the technological development of the Pierre-Boucher Hospital built in 1982 and located in Longueuil. Also, the foundation promotes healthy lifestyle habits in order to reduce the risk of future health problems. Since 1987, we have invested over $13 million in the acquisition of specialized medical equipment for cardiology, radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, gastroenterology as well as the emergency medicine, critical care and geriatrics departments.
In order to promote healthy lifestyle habits, the Foundation organizes an annual corporate triathlon. The benefits from this activity are invested in the cardiology department. In many events, the Foundation will conduct screening clinics for cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes. Finally, we are evaluating the feasibility of a health and prevention centre that will promote the benefits of physical activities and healthy nutrition and lifestyle.
The Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal Foundation (CHUM)
The mission of the CHUM Foundation is to support the technological development and outreach of one of the largest academic hospital centres in North America. In its first eight years of operation, the Foundation collected $52 million through fundraising events and campaigns. This money was used to acquire the latest equipment in such fields as cardiology, gastroenterology and medical imaging.
The CHUM has also undertaken numerous research projects thanks to the generosity of our donors, who believe that the CHUM plays a vital role in the Montreal community and in Quebec as a whole. To encourage excellence, the CHUM Foundation gives out annual awards in recognition of the exceptional contribution made by CHUM physicians, nurses, employees and volunteers.
The McGill University Health Centre Foundation (MUHC)
The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is currently engaged in a landmark redevelopment project that will ensure that it remains a world leader in patient care, teaching and research for generations to come. In support of this ambitious construction and renovation project, the MUHC Foundation has undertaken the $300 million ? Best Care for Life? capital campaign, of which more than $140 million has already been secured.
By funding critical transitional projects on the current sites and by supporting the construction and modernization of the Glen and Mountain campuses, the MUHC Foundation is ensuring that, now and in the future, the MUHC can continue to provide its patients with the best care for life.

The 2008 Montréal International Auto Show: January's premier event in Montreal!
Already in its 40th year, the Montréal International Auto Show (MIAS), taking place from January 18 to the 27, 2008, is almost upon us! The event, which consistently attracts hundreds of thousands of passionate car enthusiasts every year, will once again be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
Following a very successful path
Last year's visitor's circuit was such a phenomenal success (over 77% satisfaction rating!) that organizers have decided to repeat the experience during this year's milestone 40th Edition. As a result, the now-famous level 7, called 7th Heaven, home to all the Show's wonderfully exotic automobiles, will remain an optional part of the circuit.
Still Hot& 40 Years Later
At the heart of the Show, visitors will find a host of special attractions and events designed to both fascinate and amaze. Chief among them is a segment entitled Still Hot& 40 Years Later, a brand new attraction created specifically in honour of the Show's 40th Edition. The exhibit takes visitors on a trip through time to admire some of the most famous automobiles from 1968, along with their modern-day counterparts. Here's a peak at some of the models on display, simply to whet your appetite: The Corvette, the Charger& these are but a few of what awaits you during this fascinating trip to yesteryear.
MIAS blood drive: an annual tradition
The Montréal International Auto Show's annual blood donor clinic, organized in conjunction with Héma Québec and CFCF-CTV, will take place this year at the Grande-Place of Complexe Desjardins, from Monday, January 21 to Friday, January 25, -2008.
